DUI case of Detroit Tiger Cabrera Set to Begin Decmeber 1

After numerous delays, the trial is set to begin on December 1 on the DUI case of Miguel Cabrera, the Detroit Tigers first baseman. Cabrera has been charged with DUI, one misdemeanor count of resisting an officer without violence and has a citation for open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

He was arrested on February 16th when a St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office deputy spotted Cabrera's vehicle off to the side of Okeechobee Road with smoke coming from its hood. The deputy reported that during the stop Cabrera grabbed a bottle of Scotch and started drinking. Witnesses, including two Walmart truck drivers, reported seeing Cabrera drunk prior to his arrest.

Car accidents involving DUIs often result in serious injuries or death.
